India head coach, Gautam Gambhir and star batter, Virat Kohli shared an emotional moment after the latter reached his 30th Test century at Perth on Sunday. Kohli was under tremendous pressure heading into the first Test Vs Australia, and he delivered the goods to silence his critics.

In the first innings, he couldn't do much and was dismissed cheaply by Josh Hazlewood. However, when the stakes were high in the second innings, he responded back in style and scored a majestic ton to bring the crowd on their feet. The former Test captain had a brief partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, but suddenly India lost three quick wickets as the team was in a tricky situation.

However, Kohli kept his calm and alongside Washington Sundar and then Nitish Kumar Reddy took India's lead past 500 and in the process notched up his 30th Test century. After he reached the milestone, his wife, Anushka Sharma applauded it and coach Gambhir was also not left behind as he shared an emotional hug with Kohli in the dressing room.

Notably, the two had differences with each other in the past, but it was all buried as the two have now come on the same page.

Kohli gives credit to Anushka

It was after 16 months that Kohli had smashed a Test ton. His last century came up against the West Indies in July 2023, and since then he has failed to convert the starts into the three figure mark.

After reaching the landmark, Kohli talked with the official broadcasters, and gave credit to his wife, Anushka for standing by his side.

"Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scenes, what goes on in the head when you don't play as well, you make a few mistakes after getting yourself in."

After Kohli's brilliance, the Indian bowlers rocked Australia with 4 quick wickets as the home side now faces an embarrassing defeat in Perth.
