Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has launched a scathing verbal attack on active captain Babar Azam after the ‘Men in Green’ slumped to a shock defeat to USA at the 2024 T20 World Cup. 

As of now, the Pakistan cricket team is gearing up to face arch-rivals Team India in a must-win Group A match on June 9 in New York.

Apart from singling out captain Babar, Danish Kaneria also panned the rest of the Pakistan team for ‘holidaying’ in the USA with family and friends instead of rehearsing for T20 World Cup matches.


Kaneria disapproves Babar’s comparison with Virat Kohli

While speaking with the IANS, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria panned the media hype surrounding active captain Babar Azam and disapproved the cricketer’s comparisons with Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli. 

In a highly disparaging rage, the 43-year-old even claimed that Babar is “not even equal to Virat Kohli’s shoes”.

Kaneria further slammed the Pakistan cricket team for not taking the T20 World Cup 2024 seriously and alleged the travelling players of “holidaying in USA” instead of practicing.

On June 6, Pakistan lost to USA in a thrilling Super Over battle in Texas. Captain Babar Azam scored a sluggish 43-ball 44 in the match while Shaheen Afridi went wicketless with the ball during the USA run-chase.

Yet to open their account this 2024 T20 World Cup, the ‘Men in Green’ will now go up against perennial arch-rivals India in a must-win Group A game on June 9. 

The match will be staged at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
