Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made an impressive turnaround in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, bouncing back from a seven-match losing streak to secure six consecutive victories and clinch a playoff spot.

This remarkable comeback was capped by a crucial win against defending champions Chennai Super Kings in a do-or-die match on May 18, 2024, in Bengaluru. RCB's current six-match winning streak is the second-longest in the franchise's history.

They now have the opportunity to equal their best-ever winning streak if they triumph over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2024 Eliminator on May 22 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

What Happened When RCB Won 5 Or More Matches In A Row?

In 2009, RCB, led by Anil Kumble, had a challenging start to the season, winning only 4 of their first 10 matches.

They extended their streak to five by defeating CSK in the semifinal, securing a spot in the final. Unfortunately, they were defeated by the Deccan Chargers by 6 runs in the final at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, falling just short of the title.

In 2011, RCB once again showcased resilience and skill and after a poor start with only one win in their first five matches, they went on a remarkable winning streak in the league stage, finishing first in the points table.

This streak and strong performance throughout the season earned them a spot in the final. However, they faced CSK in the title clash at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and were defeated by 58 runs, missing out on the championship once more.

They extended this winning run to five matches by defeating the Gujarat Lions in the Qualifier 1, earning a spot in the final.

However, their winning streak was halted by SRH in the final, where they were defeated, marking the third instance where RCB reached an IPL final after winning 5 or more consecutive matches but fell short of claiming the title.

How can RCB Extend Their Winning Streak In IPL 2024?

RCB need to extend their winning streak by defeating Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator on May 22, 2024, and then Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2, and then overcome the record holders Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.
