The Eliminator clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Rajasthan Royals has faced a major roadblock on Wednesday (May22).

Due to security reasons, RCB cancelled their only practice session, which was supposed to take place at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad. However, the RR side went ahead with their practice session at the same venue.

Moreover, the pre-game press conference was also cancelled, which pointed out that something suspicious was happening behind the scenes.

RCB security tightened after terror threats

Bengali Daily, Anandbazar Patrika quoted Gujarat Police officials to state that the primary reason for RCB to cancel their practice session and the press conference was the threat to Virat Kohli's security. On Monday, the Ahmedabad Police arrested 4 people on suspicion of Terror activities, as the Police recovered weapons, and other dubious videos after searching their hideout.

The details of the incident was shared with both the teams, but RCB took a formal action and informed the security personnel that there won't be any net sessions.

As reported, one police officer gave a statement, stating that Kohli is a national treasure and his security was of utmost importance.

"Virat Kohli learned about the arrests after arriving in Ahmedabad. He is a national treasure, and his security is our utmost priority," said Vijay Singha Jwala, a police officer.

As a result of this, security was tightened outside the RCB team hotel, and the players used a seperate corridor for entry/exit, and it was not accessible to any other guests in the hotel.
