'When I Bid For Virat...':  Former RCB Owner Vijay Mallya claims 'Inner Instincts' Guided Him

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have scripted a remarkable turnaround in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). RCB had lost seven of their first eight matches, and their prospects seemed bleak. However, they remained undefeated in May, which showcased their resilience and exceptional performance under pressure.

In their recent encounter, Faf du Plessis & Co have defeated CSK by 27 runs. Facing a must-win situation, RCB not only needed to secure a victory but had to do so convincingly to edge out other competitors on net run rate.

Former RCB owner Vijay Mallya recently took to X (formerly Twitter) and expressed his support and optimism for the RCB as they prepare for their playoff clash against the Rajasthan Royals.

His post has generated significant buzz on social media, particularly due to his reflections on his initial investment in the team and his bid for Virat Kohli.

Vijay Mallya Shared About His Thoughts On Virat Kohli

Mallya shared that his decision to bid for Virat Kohli and the RCB franchise back in 2008 was driven by a strong 'inner instinct.'

Vijay Mallya, who bought RCB in 2008, had to resign from his position as Director of Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited (RCSPL) in 2016 after defaulting on loans and subsequently leaving India.

RCB have made a remarkable comeback and secured fourth place to finish in the group standings after a rocky start to their campaign. Their next challenge is a high-stakes Eliminator match against the Rajasthan Royals on May 22, 2024. The stakes are high, as the loser of the Eliminator will be knocked out of the tournament.

The winner, however, will progress to Qualifier 2, where they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad for a chance to secure a spot in the final and compete for the IPL 2024 title.
