Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The winner of the highly anticipated clash will go on to face the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai in Qualifier 2.

Coming into the playoffs, both the sides have had contrasting journeys in the season where the RR was cruising for the top 2 spots, having won 8/9 games initially before losing 4 on the trot, failing the reserve the second spot on the basis of net run rate.

The RCB, on the other hand, looked done and dusted in the initial half of the season. They had just won 1/8 matches before making a historical comeback with 6/6 wins as they knocked out the defending champions, CSK on net run-rate.

The last they faced each-other was in match 19 of the ongoing season in Jaipur on April, 6. Let us dive deep and see how the things panned out in that match.

When RR Encountered RCB in IPL 2024

After winning the toss, Sanju Samson asked RCB to bat first and the openers stitched a big, 124 run stand to start off, however, they took 84 balls for the same before the current captain, Faf du Plessis fell at 44(33) to Yuzvendra Chahal.

Virat Kohli scored the joint-slowest century in the IPL history, meanwhile, raising some eyebrows. He finished at 113*(72) after his ballistic 40 from the last 19 balls, taking them to 183/3. He backed his innings by saying that it was a slow track, not too easy to bat on.

The Buttler-Samson Carnage:

Contrary to the first innings, the run chase looked immensely smooth as the hosts went all guns blazing irrespective of the quick first wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal. After losing the first wicket, Jos Buttler took it upon himself to wrap up the game as soon as possible alongside Samson who played the second-fiddle.

The English captain scored a blazing 58-ball ton while the RR captain scored 69(42) as the wicketkeeper-duo added 148 in 86 balls, virtually, killing the game. Shimron Hetmyer added the finishing touch for his 11*(6) as they finished the match with 6 wickets and 5 balls in hand.
