On Wednesday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on Rajasthan Royals in the highly anticipated IPL 2024 eliminator at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Led by Faf du Plessis, the Royal Challengers have been absolutely magnificent in the competition.

After losing seven of their first eight group-stage fixtures, the Red Brigade ensured a dramatic turnaround, securing a berth in the playoffs with six emphatic victories.

In their last game, RCB stunned defending champions Chennai Super Kings with a sensational performance, eliminating them from the tournament.

However, their fighting comeback might go in vain if the eliminator clash gets washed out due to rain.

What if RCB vs RR gets abandoned due to rain?

Several group-stage matches have recently been affected by rain and thunderstorms. However, the weather gods are expected to be kind on both sides, with the precipitation chances at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad reading almost nil.

However, if, by any means, the game gets washed out due to bad weather, it will have a negative impact on RCB, potentially leading to their elimination from the tournament.

If rain interrupts the proceedings in RCB vs RR eliminator, initially the officials will allot some extra time to wrap it up.

Here's how it works: If the game doesn't conclude in the extended period due to rain, the team that finished higher in the group-stage standings will proceed to the qualifier 2. This rule ensures that the team's performance throughout the tournament is duly rewarded.

It means if the game gets abandoned, RR will play the second qualifier as they finished above RCB in the group-stage points table.
