Umran Malik has been reportedly advised by his family to stay back in Hyderabad amidst India’s border tensions with geo-political rivals, Pakistan. A part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise in the ongoing IPL 2025 season, Malik along wit the rest of his colleagues recently visited Hyderabad for the match against SRH at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended IPL 2025 by a week citing security concerns, prompting all players to disperse and return back to their homes.

Umran stays back as Jammu home comes under line of fire

Jammu and Kashmir cricketer Umran Malik had been travelling with the KKR franchise this IPL 2025 season under the “return to cricket” program in a bid to continue his rehabilitation. It is worth noting that the 25-year-old was acquired by KKR back in November 2024 at the mega auction, before an injury ruled him out of the tournament.

With IPL 2025 season now being suspended, all players, including KKR stars, have been asked to return to their homes. However, Umran Malik has been advised by his Jammu-based family to stay back in Hyderabad.

For the unversed, Jammu recently came under a line of fire from Pakistan Army, with Poonch district sustaining the heaviest damage after an intense bout of shelling.

Initially, the KKR franchise was scheduled to face SRH in Hyderabad on Saturday, May 10 before BCCI suspended the remaining matches of the IPL 2025 season.

The Indian board is expected to unveil new schedule and venues for the tournament within the coming days.
