India Women’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has expressed her admirations for Indian Armed Forces amidst the nation’s border standoff with geo-political rivals Pakistan. Currently in Sri Lanka for the ongoing Women’s ODI Tri-Series against South Africa and the hosts, Mandhana took to her Instagram account to salute the bravery of India’s military and security troops.

On the cricketing front, the senior Indian opener batter recently compiled a match-winning half-century against South Africa at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Smriti Mandhana hails Indian Armed Forces

On Saturday, May 10, Indian Women’s cricketer Smriti Mandhana took to her Instagram account to share a message for India’s Armed Forces. Praising the Indian Army for protecting the nation by foiling Pakistan’s attempts at cross-border terrorist attacks, the 28-year-old “saluted” the “courage, commitment and sacrifice of our Indian Armed Forces”.

Smriti Mandhana’s comments occurred after India’s defence system intercepted Pakistan’s airstrike attempts in multiple civilian sites of the nation.

Nonetheless, the senior Indian cricketer is currently in Sri Lanka for the ongoing Women’s ODI tri-series. By scoring 148 runs in four innings at a splendid average of 37, Mandhana has played a key role in helping Team India top the points table.

She scored 51 of those runs in a match-winning cause for India against South Africa Women a couple of days ago.

The Indian team will now face Sri Lanka in the final of the Women’s ODI tri-series on Sunday, May 11. The match will be hosted by the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and the action is slated to commence from 10:00 AM IST onwards.
