In a significant news coming out from KKR camp, Umran Malik has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to injury. The 2024 IPL champions have now brought in Chetan Sakariya, the left-arm pacer as his replacement at a price of 75 Lakhs.
Chetan Sakariya Gets New Life As Umran Malik Suffers Another Injury Setback
Chetan Sakariya last played an IPL game for Delhi Capitals in the 2023 season and first grabbed limelight with an impressive performance for RR in the 2021 season. He was also part of KKR's squad in the 2024 season, but did not get a game, and now after going unsold in the 2025 auction, he is back, courtesy an injury to Umran Malik.
Chetan Sakariya was earlier included as a net bowler by KKR, marking his comeback after a wrist injury kept him out of competitive cricket for almost 19 months. The let arm pacer has played two T20Is and one ODI for India in the past, and would be hoping to stage a comeback with a productive 2025 season.
On the other hand, Umran Malik continues to suffer injury setbacks. He had a fruitful season for SRH in 2022 where he picked 22 wickets. He played for India as well, but injuries and some indifferent bowling performances have not helped his cause.
As far as Kolkata Knight Riders are concerned, they have made some big changes for IPL 2025 with Ajinkya Rahane as their skipper now. They would be hoping that the team recreates the magic of 2024 season, and start off the season with a bang in the curtain raiser on March 22 against RCB.
