In a significant development regarding the future of IPL 2025, ESPNCricinfo has stated that BCCI has shortlisted Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad as three venues for the remainder of the season. However, it is a plan that would be implemented only if the tournament resumes in May after the suspension.

BCCI Keen To Host Remainder Of IPL 2025 Matches In India

IPL 2025 was suspended on May 9 after the tensions between India and Pakistan escalated. The BCCI suspended the tournament for just a week, but if the situation gets worse, there were reports that the tournament would be hosted out of India. However, it seems that the BCCI is keen to host the remainder of 16 matches in India only, and for that, they have decided to keep the tournament in the southern side of the country.

The report from Cricinfo also stated that the BCCI officials are cautious, and if the situation does not improve, it could be held later in the year. There are also concerns over the participation of overseas players if the tournament resumes in May, as most of them have returned home due to political tensions between India and Pakistan.

Out of the three cities that have been named in the report, RCB are the only team that are alive in the playoffs race. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings are already out of the race, and thus if the season resumes in the three venues, RCB are likely to get the home advantage in the playoffs.

All those permutations and combinations would come into picture only if the situation improves in India in the upcoming few days.
