The IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals faced a major security scare in Dharamsala amid India’s ongoing geopolitical tensions with Pakistan on Thursday, May 8. Stuck in the Himachal Pradesh town, players from both sides along with the support staff, commentators and production crew members were escorted to New Delhi via a special Vande Bharat train, organised on short notice by Indian Railways.
On Friday, May 9; the Indian Premier League (IPL) shared an excerpt of players’ travel through a short 40-second clip on social media. In the video, Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav can be seen expressing his gratitude to the Indian Railways for making the arrangement on a short notice.

A day after Punjab Kings’ home fixture against Delhi Capitals was called off due to security concerns, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended the remainder of the IPL 2025 season by a week.
While the Indian board is expected to announce a revamp schedule and new venues for the tournament, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has reportedly offered to host the remaining matches. As many as 16 matches are still remaining in the season, including each of the four playoffs’ fixtures.
