After Afghanistan dramatically qualified for the semi-finals by defeating Bangladesh, the Taliban expressed gratitude to the BCCI and India for their support in developing Afghanistan's cricket.

This achievement marks Afghanistan's biggest milestone in cricket, as they reached the T20 World Cup semi-finals. Afghanistan will face South Africa in the semi-finals, while India will take on England in the other semi-final.

Taliban expressed gratitude to India

Taliban's head thanked India for all the help India gave to Afghanistan to achieve what they achieved today after beating Bangladesh.

"We are thankful for India’s continuous help in capacity building of the Afghan Cricket Team. We really appreciate that" - Suhail Shaheen, Taliban's Head of the Political Office said.

Afghanistan's rise in cricket is one of the most inspiring stories in the sport. Few associate nations have achieved what Afghanistan has in cricket.

India has been Afghanistan's biggest support all these years. India has consistently supported Afghanistan with sponsorships and facilities to enhance their game. India even contributed $1 million to help build the Kandahar cricket stadium.

India also provided the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida as a temporary "home ground" for the Afghan team, along with another home ground in Dehradun. Moreover, India hosted Afghanistan's first Test match back in 2018.

Many Afghan players gained international exposure through the IPL and used that experience in international cricket. Players like Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed, Mohammad Nabi had used this experience to improve their skills.

It is not just Taliban who expressed their gratitude. Afghan skipper Rashid Khan thanked Rohit Sharma for his century that helped Afghanistan secure their qualification by beating Australia.
