Former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth has drawn parallels between Hardik Pandya's all-round abilities and the legendary Yuvraj Singh's performances, following Pandya's impressive showing in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

After a poor run in the IPL 2024, Hardik Pandya is back to his best. The seaming all-rounder seems to have turned his fortunes around. He is performing well in the tournament with both bat and ball. The 30-year-old from Baroda has accumulated 116 runs at an average of 58 and a strike rate of 145.

Pandya has also shone with the ball, taking 8 wickets in six matches at an average of 19.62 and an economy rate of 7.47. He has been the difference maker with the bat and ball, similar to what Yuvraj did in India’s successful World Cup campaign in 2011, where he fared well both with bat and ball.

Sreesanth, who was a member of India's 2011 World Cup squad, boldly asserted that Pandya can replicate Yuvraj Singh's heroics from that event. He also hoped that Rohit Sharma would lead India to a World Cup win this time.

"The last conference where he (Rohit Sharma) said Hardik Pandya is a key player in the team. What Yuvraj Singh did in the 2011 as an all-rounder, with bat, with ball and his fielding, I think Hardik is very much capable of doing that in this T20 World Cup. I think none of us will be surprised if Rohit lifts the trophy,"  S Sreesanth said while speaking to Star Sports.

India are set to face England on June 27 in Guyana for the second semi-final. Pandya will be eager to continue his stellar performance to help India reach the final and ultimately clinch the trophy in Barbados on June 29.
