After a disappointing T20 World Cup, Pakistan players are moving on and preparing for upcoming Test matches. A pre-season training camp has started today at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre in Karachi.
Currently, 24 players are in the training center, with a 25th player expected to join soon. The camp aims to prepare the team for the upcoming red-ball cricket season.
Pakistan faces a challenging schedule with a total of 9 Test games in the 2024-25 Test Championship season, including home series against Bangladesh and England in August and October, respectively.
Additionally, Pakistan will play an away series against South Africa later this year and a home series against the West Indies.
The camp includes a mix of senior and junior players. Eight participants, such as Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, and Sarfaraz Ahmed, have already played Test cricket for Pakistan.
Following the Karachi camp, 15 players will be selected for the Pakistan Shaheens' camp, scheduled to run from July 8 to 13. The Shaheens squad will then tour Darwin, Australia, to participate in practice games.
The Pakistan team underwent much-hyped military training at Kakul ahead of the T20 World Cup earlier this year. However, the training did not yield the desired results, as Pakistan faced a disastrous T20 World Cup campaign.
The losses against India and the USA in T20 World Cup will haunt Pakistan for a long time. Now, the team aims to move past these setbacks and focus on future challenges.
