Cricket players from India and Afghanistan share a good bond on and off the field. And Rashid Khan, easily the greatest match-winner in T20Is in the last decade or so, knows exactly that.

Hence, when Afghanistan knocked Australia out of the T20 World Cup 2024 with an epic win over Bangladesh on Tuesday, Rashid posted a photo with Rohit Sharma, captioning: ‘Bambai se aaya mera dost.’

As Rohit Sharma hails from Mumbai, and also has been a successful leader for Mumbai Indians over the years in the IPL. Even before the recent India versus Afghanistan fixture’s toss, Rashid was seen giving a warm hug to Rohit, showing that the duo share an excellent friendship off the field as well.

The BCCI has allowed Afghanistan to play against Bangladesh at ‘home’ India later this year. It shows the great relationship between the BCCI and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) as well, taking it to larger heights.

Afghanistan's next challenge will be red-hot South Africa in the first semi-final, while India will face England in the second semi-final of the ongoing edition. Needless to say, if they both win, Rohit and Rashid will go face-to-face as captains in the all-important final.
