During a recent Duleep Trophy match between India A and India D, Shreyas Iyer walked out to bat wearing sunglasses, a rare sight in cricket. The unconventional accessory choice became a hot topic of conversation online, with many fans poking fun at Iyer's decision to bat in sunglasses despite not scoring any runs.

Batting first, India A averted a collapse as Shams Mulani scored 89 off 187 coming down the order. Tailender Tanush Kotian also slammed a half-century as India A were bowled out for 290 runs on the first hour of Day 2.

Meanwhile, India D's first inning was marred by opener Atharva Taide's early dismissal. The next batter in was skipper Shreyas Iyer, and to battle the excessive brightness of the sun rays, Iyer donned sunglasses.

Shreyas Iyer received backlash for stylish appearance !

While players often wear sunglasses while fielding, especially in sunny conditions, it's rare to see a batter opt for them while facing deliveries.

That being said, seven deliveries later, Shreyas Iyer was dismissed off a duck by Khaleel Ahmed, thus leading to widespread backlash on the internet. Fans on Twitter highlighted the disparity between his stylish appearance and his lack of runs on the scoreboard.

This comes at a time when Shreyas Iyer was snubbed off India's 16-member squad for the upcoming Tests series against Bangladesh. After being kicked out of the England Tests earlier this year due to disciplinary actions, Iyer also lost his central contract.

Since then, he has been struggling to break into the Test squad again. Moreover, such performances in domestic tournaments will only haunt him in the future. Meanwhile, with Iyer's wicket, India D are reduced to 6/2 with Devdutt Padikkal and Yash Dubey now on the crease trying to salvage the damage.
