In the ongoing Duleep Trophy match between India A and India D in Anantapur, the Shreyas Iyer-led side are in deep trouble as they have lost two early wickets, including their skipper. 

India A, batting first, put 290 runs on the board. Harshit Rana was the star with the ball as he registered a four-wicket haul. India D had the opportunity to take a commanding lead in the game, but Khaleel Ahmed ruined the plans. 

India D lost Atharva Taide in the first over of the match, while Shreyas Iyer, who, in a bizarre move, came to bat with sunglasses on, departed for a seven-ball duck. On the 4th ball of the 3rd over, Iyer failed to time the ball and went straight to Aaqib Khan, standing at mid-on. 

Iyer's Dismal Form In Duleep Trophy 2024

Iyer, who has been out of the central contract, is eyeing a return to Indian set-up. However, he has failed to show consistency in the ongoing Duleep Trophy. In the first-round match against India C, Iyer scored 9 (16) in the first innings. However, he did score a fifty in the second innings, but he has now followed it with a seven-ball duck in the ongoing match. 

Iyer Fails To Make It To India Squad For Bangladesh Series

It is also worth noting that Iyer has failed to make it to India's squad for the upcoming home Tests against Bangladesh at home starting on September 19.
