The star wicket-keeper batter, Sanju Samson, continued his poor run as his time at the crease was cut short by Aaqib Khan in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 match between India A and India D at Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur.

In the 18th over, Aaqib bowled a short-length delivery coming in from the off-stump channel. Samson did not move his feet and decided to go for a pull shot. He mistimed the hit and launched it straight up in the air. Prasidh Krishna, at the mid-on, called for it and ran towards his left. His magnificent dive helped him seal the catch cleanly.

With this wicket, India D was in deep waters, losing four wickets in the morning session itself. Prasidh's stunning catch and Sanju's poor shot led to his untimely dismissal. He walked back to the dugout after scoring just five runs. It must be noted that Sanju was named as a replacement by Team D of KS Bharat.

India D Crumble Under Pressure

India A were bowled out for 290 runs, with Harshit Rana leading the charge for India D with 4/51 in 17.3 overs. Despite India D captain Shreyas Iyer’s decision to bowl first, India A's innings was salvaged by Shams Mulani, who scored 89, and Tanush Kotian, who added 53.

They built a crucial 91-run partnership for the 7th wicket after the team had struggled at 93/5. Rana’s crucial dismissals of Shams Mulani and Aaqib Khan restricted India A to 290.

However, India D had a challenging start to their innings, losing two early wickets. Khaleel Ahmed was pivotal for India A, dismissing both Shreyas Iyer and Atharva Taide.

At the time of writing, India D are at 85/4.
