That being said, the Bangladesh Test series will commence on September 19 at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai before the action shifts to Kanpur for the second and final Test of the tour.

Interestingly, Hindu Mahasabha in Kanpur threatened authorities to stage a protest if the Bangladesh team visited the city, citing political turmoil in the neighbouring country.

Amid the threat of a hostile environment, a BCCI source told Sports Tak that the schedule won’t be changed momentarily. The board is closely monitoring the threats and plans to peacefully conduct the Test match to ensure the fans in Kanpur are not disheartened.

"Yes, we are monitoring and with the concerned authorities as far as those threats are concerned but we have done everything to hold that match and stadium is ready to welcome our and visitors and said it’s not going anywhere it will be in Kanpur but will keep monitoring the situation not only in Kanpur but also at the other venues," the source said.

Notably, the Test series is crucial for India to strengthen their contenders for the World Test Championships finals scheduled for 2025.
