South Africa and Afghanistan are playing against each other in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024. This match is being played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. 

Rashid Khan, the Afghan skipper, won the toss and opted to bat first. Marco Jansen gave South Africa a brilliant start as he dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the backbone of Afghan batting in the first over. Jansen gave them another in his next over. 


Marco Jansen Breaches Naib's Defence


Marco Jansen's second bunny in the bag was Gulbadin Naib. On the third delivery of the third over, Jansen bowled a back-of-a-length delivery around the off stump, and it jagged back in ever so slightly. The late movement left Naib's technique wanting, and the ball snuck in through the gap between the bat and pads to crash into the stumps. 

Two early wickets put Afghanistan on the back foot. This set in a collapse, which is continuing as the article is being written. Rabada and Jansen have run through the Afghan batting line-up, and the Asian team is struggling at 28/6 in 6.3 overs.
