In a significant development, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced a formidable 16-member squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Elegant batter Laura Wolvaardt has been chosen as the leader of the team, which is an amalgamation of experience and youth.

South Africa women have outright match-winners throughout their squad. Barring skipper Wolvaardt, the likes of Anneke Bosch, Nadine de Klerk and Sune Luus are expected to play key roles for the Proteas. The legendary Marizanne Kapp, who enjoyed stellar success in the Women's Hundred, will play as the first-choice all-rounder.

Nonkululeko Mlaba will lead South Africa's bowling attack alongside Kapp and Ayabonga Khaka, forming a lethal trio heading to the marquee event. Four players- Eliz-Mari Marx, Tumi Sekhukhune, Mieke De Ridder and an uncapped Seshnie Naidu- have received their maiden World Cup call-up and will be crucial along with the in-form Chloe Tryon. Meanwhile, young batting all-rounder Miané Smit will travel as a solitary reserve player in the team.

South Africa's schedule in Women's T20 World Cup

South Africa Women are placed in group B alongside Bangladesh, England, Scotland, and West Indies. They will face West Indies Women in their opening encounter before taking on England, Scotland, and Bangladesh in their subsequent fixtures. The Women's T20 World Cup was shifted from Bangladesh to the UAE due to political unrest in the South Asian nation. It will be held in the Gulf Country between October 3 and 20.
