In an exciting contest between Oval Invincibles Women and Trent Rockets Women in The Hundred 2024 competition, veteran all-rounder Marizanne Kapp showcased her prowess with the ball to knock out three batters of the Rockets to completely turn the momentum into Oval’s favour.

Oval Invincibles Women won the toss and opted to field first. Skipper Lauren Hill introduced renowned all-rounder from South Africa Marizanne Kapp early into the attack with a view to getting early wickets.

Marizanne Kapp, meanwhile, unleashed her prime form with the ball to completely destroy Trent Rockets Women’s momentum in the first innings.

She drew first blood to knock out Grace Scrivens with a beautifully executed length delivery around the off-stump line. Scrivens exposed her stumps and saw it fly away as Kapp celebrated her triumph.

In the very same 5-ball spell, Marizanne Kapp removed another opener, Bryony Smith, courtesy of an extraordinary catch from Mady Villiers. Smith’s mistimed shot was plucked out of thin air by Villiers at short mid-wicket, resulting in a dual wicket spell from Kapp.

For the final blow, Marizanne Kapp struck on the 44th ball to remove Natasha Wraith, thus breaking a 40-run partnership. A back-of-the-length delivery stayed low, and despite Wraith’s best efforts to hit across the line, the ball swept through the gap to shatter the stumps.

With that, Marizanne Kapp had successfully dismissed the first three batters of Rockets, and as a result of the collapse, Trent Rockets could only put 91 runs on the board.
