Although India defeated England by 68 runs in the semi-final of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to enter the final, one thing that remained a major concern was Virat Kohli's form. Fans all around the world and cricket fraternity have been shedding light on it. 

Recently speaking to Star Sports, former Team India head coach Ravi Shastri criticised star batsman Virat Kohli following his failure with the bat in the ongoing marquee tournament. 

He stated that Kohli should play the role of an anchor and adapt according to the conditions rather than playing and adopting an overly aggressive approach.


Shastri Slams Kohli's Approach In T20 World Cup 2024 

Ravi Shastri expressed his dissatisfaction and shared his opinion on Kohli's form and stated that the veteran cricketer seemed out of touch and attempted unconventional shots throughout the tournament.

Virat has been going through a disastrous form with the bat in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The 35-year dynamic batter could score only nine runs off nine deliveries against England at the in Guyana. 

Notably, the right-handed batter has scored 75 runs in seven matches at an average of 10.71 and a strike rate of 100.

“This is not Virat Kohli’s game. He should play according to situations and play his natural game. Then he has the capability to score quickly and catch up at the last. He is trying to manufacture shots. This is what you do when you are not in form,” Shastri said.

After defeating England, the 'Men in Blue' continued their winning streak in the ongoing ICC tournament. The Indian bowlers successfully defended 172 runs against the Jos Buttler-led side in the knockout match. 

Team India is set to face the South African team in the final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.
