Shafali Verma showed no mercy on Friday (June 28) when India met South Africa in their one-off Test match at MA Chidambaram Stadium while reaching her first-ever international century across formats.
The 20-year-old, who plays for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Women's Premier League (WPL), dominated South Africa's ace spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba, and the way she smashed out of the ground for a six made a lot of headlines.
It was a tossed-up delivery by Mlaba, and Verma was waiting for it. She got the elevation she was waiting for it, and dispatched it over long-on for a monster six.

Smriti Mandhana Hugs Shafali Verma After Her 100
Interestingly, Shafali got to her maiden international century against Mlaba only, as she flicked her away for four runs towards the fine leg region. No wonder she was delighted, and her partner Smriti Mandhana hugged her immediately to congratulate her on achieving the feat.
A ball later, Mandhana too got to a flamboyant century, as Indian openers were all over South Africa in their only Test. Notably, the Women in Blue clean swept them in three ODIs, and a victory in Tests would give them a huge boost in the multi-format series.
