In the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, India defeated England by 68 runs in the second semi-final and made their way to reach the final of the marquee tournament on Thursday. 

In the most crucial and highly-anticipated clash, Shivam Dube failed and faced criticism once again after failing to make an impact with the bat during the semi-final clash. The batter walked to the crease in the 18th over after the dismissal of Hardik Pandya. 

He had an opportunity to play a quick-fire cameo for India to boost the score as the stage was set for him to make an immediate impact and help propel India to a strong finish. But he failed as he departed for a golden duck when he faced Chris Jordan. 

Another failure in the tournament added fuel to the fire and social media erupted in no time and bashed Shivam Dube's performance and his selection in the team over other potential candidates like Rinku Singh.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Dube showcased great form and power-hitting ability and was one of the main reasons behind CSK's success in the first half of the season. 

He was included in the World Cup squad after the successful IPL season ahead of Rinku Singh which raised many eyebrows and with continuous failure in the group stage he has faced backlash and continuous questions are being raised about his selection. 

In the group stage, he managed to score 31 against the USA and 28 against Australia but has failed in other crucial Super 8 matches.
