South African spinner Simon Harmer has been named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for the month of November 2025 by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The 36-year-old pipped Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam and Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz in some heavy competition through his series-winning heroics against Team India.
Explosive Indian opener Shafali Verma also won the ICC Player of the Month, albeit under the women’s category, despite playing just one international game in November.
More laurels for Shafali Verma after 2025 World Cup triumph
Simon Harmer claimed the coveted ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for the month of November 2025 for dismantling Team India in their two-match Test series. The South African spinner picked up twin four-fers in Kolkata to claim eight for the match in the series-opener, where he was also named the ‘Player of the Match’ after South Africa’s 30-run win.
In the next Test in Guwahati, Simon Harmer picked up nine wickets to finish the series with 17 scalps at an impressive bowling average of 8.94, the best among all bowlers by a landslide.
India’s young opening batter Shafali Verma, meanwhile, defeated UAE’s Esha Oza and Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong to win the women’s category. She played just one match in the entire month, the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final, after arriving late into the squad as a replacement for injured Pratika Rawal.
After failing to go big against Australia in the semifinal, Shafali Verma hammered down an electrifying 87 from 78 balls with seven fours and two sixes against South Africa Women in Navi Mumbai. She also picked up two huge wickets with the ball, that of Sune Luus and senior pro Marizanne Kapp to cap a remarkable all-round performance and a ‘Player of the Match’ award for herself as Team India clinched the World Cup for the first time in history.
