A New South Wales Blues (NSW) cricketer has had his registration cancelled over allegations of sending nude pictures of himself to young cricketers. Cricket NSW held an emergency meeting regarding the matter last Friday before declaring their judgement.

As per the report, the incident involves several young cricketers at the player’s grade cricket club in Sydney.

NSW board take swift action against player over sexual misconduct

As per a report from the Nine newspapers in Australia, Cricket NSW has already conducted an emergency meeting to discuss the serious allegations made against a player for sending inappropriate pictures of himself to young grade cricket club players.

In an official statement, the board said that it has permanently cancelled the registration of the accused, “effective immediately”. As a result of the revocation of the registration, the said unnamed player has now been “suspended indefinitely” from getting involved in any cricket related matters.

The controversy came to light when one of the victims reportedly made the official complaint to the club. The club subsequently informed Cricket New South Wales and the matter was also transferred to the board’s Integrity Unit.

Apart from cancelling the registration, the player’s club also confirmed that the authorities are now actively investigating the issue against the accused.

As covered extensively by cricket.com.au, Australian cricket has formal child safety and integrity policies that require reporting and action on inappropriate conduct involving young players. The swift action taken by the New South Wales board signifies the priority of Australian cricket organizations in ensuring player safety and enforcing codes of conduct when such allegations surface.
