Pakistan tour of Bangladesh is likely to be moved to a different window as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) adjusts its international calendar to accommodate the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

On Sunday, the PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that PSL 11 will be held from March 26 to May 3.

Notably, under the existing Future Tour Programme (FTP), Pakistan were set to tour Bangladesh in March-April next year for a comprehensive all-format series. The tour was scheduled to include two ICC World Test Championship (WTC) matches, three One Day Internationals (ODIs), and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

However, the overlap with the expanded PSL window has made it difficult for the national side to fulfil those fixtures as originally planned.

Speaking at a PSL roadshow in New York, Naqvi stated that Pakistan’s international schedule during March and April would be adjusted.

A source from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has since confirmed that the home series against Pakistan will be rescheduled rather than shortened, as reported by Geo Super. Discussions between the PCB and BCB are currently ongoing to identify a suitable alternative window.

"The series will be rescheduled," said the BCB source. "The two cricket boards are currently in discussion.

"The number of matches will not be reduced under any circumstances. The suitable window is being accessed and will be disclosed soon.

"ODI or T20I matches can be reshuffled in the ODI series. The official announcement will be made soon after consultation with the PCB," further added.

Meanwhile, the PCB is preparing for a major expansion of the PSL. The board has decided to add two new franchises from PSL 11 onwards, increasing the league from six to eight teams by the 2026 season. The auction for the two new franchises, along with the sale of franchise rights, is scheduled for January 8.

Six cities, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit, have been shortlisted as potential hosts, with only two set to secure teams for PSL 11.
