Ahead of the IPL 2025 season’s resumption on May 17, Lhuan-dre Pretorius has joined the Rajasthan Royals as an injury replacement. He was seen practising in the RR kit, dazzling his teammates with stylish stroke play.

As India-Pakistan border tensions eased following a ceasefire agreement, IPL authorities decided to resume the tournament on May 17 after it was initially suspended for a week.

Many international players have prioritised national duties and might not return to India, meaning the squads will undergo significant change.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius Is Now A Royal

For the Rajasthan Royals, middle-order batter Nitish Rana was ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2025 season due to injury. Hence, as a replacement, the team signed a promising batter from South Africa, Lhuan-dre Pretorius.

Pretorius, who plays for Paarl Royals in SA20, officially joined RR and practised in a net session for the first time. He flaunted his range of shots and dazzled his teammates with his talent and precise skills. He hit conventional as well as unorthodox cricketing shots, which is an advantage, especially in the T20 format.

Notably, RR are already ruled out of the playoff race, as with 3 wins in 12 games, they dropped to ninth place in the points table.

Their next game will be against Punjab Kings on May 18 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur at 3:30 PM IST.

RR Skipper Sanju Samson Fit For Last Leg

Sanju Samson has rejoined the Rajasthan Royals squad ahead of the IPL 2025 resumption and is set to play in the match against the Punjab Kings on May 18. Samson had suffered a rib injury while batting against Delhi Capitals and missed multiple games.

The suspension of the league due to security issues gave him additional recovery time, and he now looks fully fit to return for the final two matches of RR’s season. His return also means that Riyan Parag, who led the team in his absence, will hand back the captaincy.
