In a dramatic turn of events, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has reached out to the BCCI, expressing its right to host the IPL 2025 final at Eden Gardens. Notably, the IPL 2025 final, originally scheduled in Kolkata, could be moved out of the city due to the rain forecast on June 3.
CAB Takes Bold Step; Still Hopeful Of Hosting IPL Final
Meanwhile, amid the reports of Ahmedabad replacing Kolkata as the IPL 2025 final venue, CAB approached the Regional Meteorological Centre, asking for a report on the weather pattern expected in Kolkata on June 3.
As stated by RevSportz, the report, which claims that it's too early to make such a prediction, has been formally submitted to the BCCI. The Meteorological department made clear that the weather could be predicted only around the 25th of May, making CAB optimistic about bringing the IPL final back to Kolkata.
As it stands, the Cricket Association of Bengal remains hopeful of a decision reversal by the BCCI.
“We remain confident that things will work out because we have done a very good job in organising everything. Also, you can’t predict weather patterns so early and we have submitted all official documents to this effect," the CAB stated, as quoted by RevSportz.
The report also claims that if Eden Gardens doesn't get the IPL final, the BCCI might compensate for it by awarding the hosting rights of one of the semifinals or the final to the iconic venue in next year's T20 World Cup.
Venues For Remainder Of IPL 2025
Meanwhile, as per the revised IPL 2025 schedule, the remaining matches of the tournament will be conducted across six venues - Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Mumbai.
Ahmedabad seems the frontrunner to host the final on June 3, while the other playoff matches might be distributed between Delhi and Mumbai.
