The IPL 2025 has not gone well for Rajasthan Royals and Sanju Samson. The champions of the inaugural edition are already out of the playoffs race, and Samson missed quite a few games due to a rib injury.
Samson injured himself while batting against DC at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, and could not play a game till the suspension of IPL. However, he was recovering well, and now the gap of 8-10 days has given him more time to get fit for the last two matches.
Sanju Samson Returns Back In Style To RR Camp
In a video clip released by Rajasthan Royals, on their official X handle, Sanju Samson is seen entering Royals' team hotel. His joining back shows that the wicketkeeper batter is now ready to captain the franchise again.
Rajasthan Royals' first game after the resumption is on May 18 against Punjab Kings while their last game is against Chennai Super Kings. Thus, Sanju Samson would be looking to stamp his authority both as a leader and batter and end Rajasthan Royals' campaign on the positive note.
In the seven matches of the league, Sanju Samson has scored 224 runs with an average of 37.33 and strike-rate of 143.58. In the first three games, he had a finger problem, so he could not lead the side, and in his absence, Riyan Parag has led RR.
If Samson comes back against Punjab Kings, it would be interesting to see where he bats. Vaibhav Suryavanshi impressed in the opportunities he got in the absence of Sanju Samson, and thus, the RR skipper would have to go back to number 3, a position where he was very successful in the last season.
