South Africa crushed Zimbabwe inside three days of the second Test to seal the two-match series 2-0. Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah performed an intense training session at the nets ahead of the third Test against England. In other news, Deepti Sharma has opted out of The Hundred 2025 women’s season.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Tuesday, July 8.

Bosch, Muthusamy Wallop ZIM As South Africa Win 2-0

South Africa thrashed Zimbabwe by an innings and 236 runs in the second Test in Bulawayo to seal the two-match series 2-0. Corbin Bosch picked up additional three wickets on Day 3 to complete a sensational four-wicket haul. Spinner Senuran Muthusamy dismissed both overnight batters before mopping up the Zimbabwean tail to claim figures of 3-77.

For Zimbabwe, number three batter Nick Welch scored the lone half-century of the innings as the hosts folded up for just 220 in 77.3 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah Hints Return With Intense Training

Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah performed an intense training session ahead of the upcoming third Test against England at Lord’s. According to a report from Revsportz, the cricketer looked in good shape and bowled for about 45 minutes in the nets. Bumrah’s rhythm and intensity indicates that the 31-year-old might well be making his return into the Indian playing XI for the all-important match.

The right-arm fast bowler was rested from the Indian team for the Edgbaston Test earlier this month as part of the speedster’s workload management.

Deepti Sharma Pulls Out Of Hundred 2025

Indian women’s all-rounder Deepti Sharma has pulled out of the upcoming Women’s The Hundred 2025 season in England. The 27-year-old cited a hectic cricketing schedule off late behind her decision. In a bid to keep herself fit and fresh for the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, the cricketer rejected her £36,000 contract with the London Spirit franchise.

Deepti Sharma played a key role in London Spirit’s title winning campaign last year, scoring 212 runs at a strike rate of 132.50, all while picking up eight wickets in the process.

RCB Files Petition In Karnataka High Court Over IPL 2025 Stampede

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court against the Central Administrative Tribunal's (CAT). Interestingly, the CAT earlier held the franchise responsible for the horrific stampede in Bengaluru, that took the lives of 11 RCB fans outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium after the IPL 2025 season.

RCB’s IPL 2025 win called for a victory parade the very next day, making it extremely difficult for the Bengaluru administration to make necessary and safety arrangements for a large crowd on a short notice.

FIR Registered Against Yash Dayal

Indian fast bowler and RCB star Yash Dayal has been booked under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after a woman accused him of sexual harassment and emotional manipulation.

The woman claimed that she has been in a relationship with Yash for more than five years. Even though a formal First Information Report (FIR) has registered against him, sources close to the investigation have stated that no immediate arrest or coercive action will be taken against the fast bowler until the victim’s statement has been officially recorded.
