Yash Dayal has been booked under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after woman from Ghaziabad accused him of sexual harassment, emotional manipulation, and physical exploitation under the false promise of marriage.
The woman, who claims to have been in a relationship with the 27-year-old left-arm pacer for over five years, filed an official complaint through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS), addressing it directly to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on June 21.
Following a preliminary inquiry, a formal First Information Report (FIR) has now been registered. According to the complaint, the woman alleged that RCB bowler persuaded her into a long-term relationship by consistently assuring her of marriage. She further accused the cricketer of maintaining multiple romantic affairs with other women during the same period.
In her statement, the woman said that Dayal not only engaged in repeated sexual relations with her but also introduced her to his family, who allegedly endorsed the relationship and assured her that she would eventually become their "daughter-in-law."
Legal Action Against Yash Dayal
According to ANI, the FIR against Dayal has been lodged under Section 69 of the BNS, which criminalises sexual harassment by deceitful means, including the false promise of marriage. The offence is non-bailable and carries a maximum punishment of up to 10 years imprisonment upon conviction.
Officials from the Ghaziabad Police confirmed that the woman ha submitted electronic evidence, which is currently under forensic scrutiny. Her formal statement is yet to be recorded before magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC, a necessary step before further procedural actions can be initiated.
No Immediate Arrest Likely
Sources close to the investigation stated that no immediate arrest or coercive action will be taken until the victim’s statement is officially recorded. Yash Dayal gained significant attention as a promising left-arm fast bowler in Indian Premier League (IPL). He remains a prominent figure in domestic cricket and has been on the radar of selectors for national duties.
