Two months after India's exhilarating T20 World Cup 2024 win, the celebrations have found a new and creative expression. As Ganesh Chaturthi kicked off in Maharashtra, fans in Mumbai came up with a unique way to celebrate both the festival and India's cricketing glory.

Rohit Sharma’s iconic moment recreated with Ganpati Bappa

A video that has gone viral on social media shows a creative celebration where Lord Ganesh, or Ganpati Bappa, is seen alongside Indian captain Rohit Sharma, both holding the coveted T20 World Cup 2024.

In this fan-made clip, a cut-out of Rohit Sharma is positioned atop a bus beside Ganpati Bappa. Together, they proudly display the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy as if sharing the moment of victory.

The video, which combines the passion of India's cricket obsession with the devotion of Ganesh Chaturthi, has garnered widespread praise. Several reactions poured in as fans celebrated the creativity behind the video.

India's T20 World Cup win marked the end of an era

India's win over South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final marked a long-awaited moment of victory, as the Men in Blue ended an 11-year drought for a global cricket trophy.

Rohit Sharma led his team with determination during the tournament. As the team returned home, fans lined the streets, and the excitement peaked during a victory parade that stretched from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The win, however, was bittersweet as it also signalled the end of an era in Indian cricket. Rohit Sharma, alongside stalwarts Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, announced their retirement from T20 internationals.

Adding to this significant change, head coach Rahul Dravid also stepped down, concluding a wonderful chapter of Indian cricket history.

As these iconic careers ended, the reins of the Indian T20 side were passed to new hands. Former World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir was appointed the new head coach, bringing with him a wealth of experience and an aggressive cricketing mindset.

In addition, Suryakumar Yadav, known for his fearless and innovative batting, was named the new T20I captain, ushering in what promises to be an exciting chapter for Indian cricket.
