Rahul Dravid received a farewell for the ages after Team India defeated South Africa to lift the 2024 T20 World Cup in his final match as head coach. Usually known for his calm and composed presence during his playing days, a departing Dravid basked himself in World Cup glory and celebrated the occasion alongside others with sheer ecstasy.

At one point of Team India’s T20 World Cup winning celebration at the Kensington Oval, Rahul Dravid was also spotted getting lifted by Indian players and other coaching staff members. While the iconic moment will forever remain etched in the collective memory of Indian cricket enthusiasts, the celebration also demonstrated an unseen animated side of Dravid.

Rahul Dravid, known for his calm demeanor, understandably went overboard with his T20 World Cup winning celebrations alongside Indian players and other members of the coaching staff. While speaking at the recent CEAT awards, the cricketer-turned-coach revealed that while he had a great time celebrating the occasion, he avoids showing the footage of the same to his name to his children, Samit and Anvay Dravid.

The 51-year-old jokingly claimed that his children would think he had “gone mad or something”, considering he has always instructed them to maintain their balance and remain cool regardless of the results. He said:

“It's great to celebrate. I try to avoid showing that to my children, thinking I've gone mad or something. But yeah, I was always telling the boys we got to maintain our balance, and remain cool, not go up and down with results. Thank God it was my last game, otherwise after that, they would have said 'you're saying one thing but doing something else.”

Rahul Dravid stepped down as India head coach following their triumphant run at the 2024 T20 World Cup. He was replaced by his former teammate Gautam Gambhir, as announced by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on July 9.
