Pant set to feature in DPL's opening fixture

As per a report by TOI, Pant, who will play for Purani Delhi 6, has given the green light to feature in the opening fixture set to take place at the Arjun Jaitley Stadium.

The much-anticipated tournament kicks-off with a mouth-watering clash between Delhi 6 and South Delhi Superstarz led by Ayush Badoni.

“Rishabh has agreed to play the first match of the DPLT20 as he wanted to be a part of this initiative that is likely to provide a great platform for youngsters in Delhi. He acknowledges the role played by Delhi cricket in his career. However, it’s important for him to take care of himself, given that there is a long Test season coming. Being in prime shape to represent the country is his utmost priority," a source told TOI.

After the DPL, Pant will feature in the Duleep Trophy 2024, and will play under the leadership of Abhimanyu Easwaran. Pant, who suffered a career-threatening injury, returned back to professional cricket during the IPL 2024.

Following which, he was included in the India squad for the T20 World Cup, where he became the world champion. Pant then featured in the white-ball series against Sri Lanka, where he failed to deliver the goods.
