In the last league game of The Hundred 2024, Birmingham Phoenix managed to win the game with a convincing nine-wicket win over Manchester Originals at a damp Edgbaston on August 15, 2024.

The substantial presence of overseas players in Birmingham Phoenix's bowling unit has been instrumental in their qualification for the upcoming Eliminator match against Southern Brave at the Oval on August 17, 2024.

Moeen Ali On James Anderson's White-Ball Aspirations

After the satisfactory victory, in the post-match presentation, Birmingham Phoenix, captain Moeen Ali stated that considering the significant swing of the ball during the 2024 Hundred campaign, he would have contemplated enlisting the retired Jimmy Anderson in the event of an injury to one of his primary seam bowlers.

Last year we had Woakesy and these guys, they bowled outstandingly well. You want that Test bowler, who can hit a length, swing the ball. If we had an injury, I would honestly have tried to call up Jimmy Anderson, because he would have been awesome. They've been swinging it every game. If we had an injury, I have been talking about it," Moeen Ali said after Birmimgham Phoenix qualified for the Eliminator clash.

However, it is worth mentioning that, throughout the competition, Adam Milne, Tim Southee, Sean Abbott, and Chris Wood have all played pivotal roles in contributing to the success of Birmingham Phoenix.

Currently, James Anderson is serving as the mentor to the test team following his retirement from international cricket. However, there is no clarity on how long he will continue in this role which leaves him open for future playing commitments.
