Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian cricketer and sitting AAP Rajya Sabha MP, has taken to social media to pen an open letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding swift and stringent action in the RG Kar Medical College rape case.

The country of India is fighting united to seek justice over a brutal and heinous rape-murder case involving a resident doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College.

The incident that came to light last week shook the core of the medical fraternity as the doctors union went on a nationwide strike to demand a safer place for the noble professionals.

That being said, cricketers have also been actively involved in raising voices against the issue of women’s safety. Recently, former Indian cricketer and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh penned a heartfelt open letter to the government of West Bengal demanding justice for the rape-murder victim.

Harbhajan also appealed to the Chief Minister to ensure that the investigation into the RG Kar rape case is conducted with the utmost transparency and speed.

Bhajji was irked by the delay in the investigation and lapses in securing the crime scene. He also urged the people of India at large to reflect on the deep-rooted issues and play an active part in providing safer workplaces, homes, and schools for women and children.

Harbhajan Singh voiced his wholehearted support for the protesting doctors and demanded a positive change in the wake of a heinous crime.

Notably, before Harbhajan Singh, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also took strong stand against the incident and demanded stricter punishment for the culprits.
