Kohli's Wife Anushka Sharma Raises Women Safety Awareness After Kolkata Rape Shocker

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, on Friday, August 16, raised concerns about safety of women in India through an eye-opening social media post. Notably, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj had also shared the same post on his official Instagram handle earlier in the day.
Anushka’s comments came on the background of a shocking Kolkata rape incident that occurred earlier this month.
Anushka Sharma joins Siraj, Shreyas over women’s safety
On August 16, Bollywood actress and Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma shared a sterling social media post through her Instagram story.
The post in contention alleges that the Indian social culture is filled with mixed standards over women’s safety, and claimed how Indians usually tend to blame female victims after the sexual assault.
Apart from Anushka Sharma, Indian fast bowler and Virat Kohli’s RCB teammate Mohammed Siraj had also shared the same social media post on his Instagram handle. Moreover, Indian batting superstar Shreyas Iyer demanded swift justice for the Kolkata rape victim.
Earlier this month, a resident doctor of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was raped and brutally murdered inside the college premises. The female doctor was on night duty and was resting in a seminar haul before she was attacked. The horrifying crime caused nationwide protests and coverage from nearly all leading channels.
