In a significant development from the RCB camp, the three-time finalists are set to part ways with Mohammed Siraj. Notably, October 31 is the last date to submit the retention list to the BCCI, and on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, cricbuzz reported the possible retentions for RCB.
As per the report, Bengaluru, who are still in search of their maiden IPL title, will undergo a major overhaul and just retain three stars from the current squad.
RCB To Retain Patidar And Yash Dayal
Virat Kohli is the obvious choice and will be the top retention, while RCB are putting their faith in Rajat Patidar, who has shown great potential in the last few seasons. Further, Yash Dayal, who was their best bowler last season, is likely to be rewarded and retained for four crores as an uncapped player.
Talking about Siraj, the right-arm seamer has been with RCB since 2018. Bengaluru has shown great trust in the seamer and backed him over the years. However, Siraj's performance has dipped in the last year, and he might have to be ready to part ways with the Men in Red.
In the 2023 season, Siraj took 19 wickets in 14 games, which was an average performance. He further disappointed his fans and took just 15 scalps in 14 games in IPL 2024.
Virat Kohli To Lead RCB
Not only Virat will be RCB's top retention, but there are reports that the management has held talks with the right-hand batter and wants him to lead the side once again for IPL 2025.
Notably, Virat quit captaincy after IPL 2021 as he wanted to concentrate on his batting. Faf du Plessis led the side for three years, but the 40-year-old is said to be released for the upcoming season, and Virat can be seen with the captain's arm band.
Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green are two other big names said to be released by RCB for IPL 2025.
