For the second successive year, Afghanistan captain, Rashid khan has decided to skip the Big Bash League tournament.

This is a significant setback for both Cricket Australia and Rashid Khan's team, Adelaide Strikers, since the Afghan skipper is one of the big names in the competition. The history between Rashid and BBL dates back to 2023, when Australia decided to skip the ODI series with Afghanistan, on Human Rights Ground after Taliban banned Education for girls.

Rashid still holds grudges against Cricket Australia

Rashid threatened to boycott playing in BBL in 2023, and even though he withdrew his decision, Rashid eventually decided to stick to his original decision, and hence, opted out of the league.

It is understood that the Strikers were in constant contact with Rashid Khan before the decision not to play this summer.

As per press agency, AAP, Cricket Australia are adamant that Australia skipping the ODI series with Afghanistan is not the reason for him withdrawing from BBL, rather, it is Rashid's busy schedule which has prompted this decision.

The Afghan leggie has been one of the key players for the Adelaide Strikers in the previous seasons. He has bagged 98 wickets in just 69 matches, and has developed a cult following in the country.

As per AAP, Cricket Australia will always welcome Rashid back in the league and there is no animosity between the two parties.
