Bangladesh have been jolted with an injury setback, as star opener, Mahmudul Hasan Joy has been ruled out of the Test series against Pakistan.

He suffered a groin injury during Bangladesh 'A' team's four-day match against Pakistan A. BCB is yet to announce a replacement for him.

"He [Joy] got hurt while fielding. It will take him about three weeks to recover," said Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashis Chowdhury.

The opening batter sustained the injury while fielding during the four-day match against Pakistan Shaheens in Islamabad ahead of the first Test in Rawalpindi. 

The talented batter looked in ominous touch against a quality Shaheens bowling attack, scofing 65 in the first innings.

He also contributed 69 and 65, during the four-day match he played as a part of high-performance unit against the Shaheens.

In 13 Test matches, Hasan Joy has accumulated 623 runs, at an average of 25.95. He has slammed a solitary hundred and has four fifties to his name.

Talking about the upcoming series, the tour was in danger of getting cancelled due to the political unrest in Bangladesh. However, the Bangladesh team landed in Pakistan, a week before their scheduled arrival and got seperate training facilities from Pakistan Cricket Board.

The first Test commences from August 21, while the second Test in Karachi starts from August 30.
