The Shpageeza Cricket League has become a vital component of Afghanistan's cricket landscape that has offered a platform for local talent to flourish and gain exposure on a larger stage. 

The ninth edition of the tournament, organised by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), is scheduled to run from August 12 to August 25, 2024. 

The league has been instrumental in the development of cricket in Afghanistan as it has served as a breeding ground for players who have gone on to represent the national team in international cricket.

In a video that is going viral on the internet, Rashid Khan and Naveen-ul-Haq were in Kabul for the ongoing Shpageeza Cricket League.  

Unfortunately, due to a hamstring injury, Rashid was ruled him out of The Hundred 2024.

This year, the Shpageeza Cricket League has five teams: Speen Ghar Tigers, Band-e-Amir Dragons, Amo Sharks, Mis Ainak Knights, and Boost Defenders, reduced from eight teams to accommodate the condensed schedule. 

All 21 matches are set to take place at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium to ensure consistency for fans and players alike.

The opening match will see the defending champions, Speen Ghar Tigers, led by the star all-rounder Rashid Khan, take on Band-e-Amir Dragons.
