Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) wicketkeeper-batter from Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, earlier stated that he will be returning to his hometown, to attend to his unwell mother and that he will rejoin the KKR ‘family’ very soon. 

The 22-year-old left the IPL on May 1 to be with his mother, who was facing health issues. He  had travelled to Kabul ahead of the match against Mumbai Indians to be with his ailing mother. 


Rahmanullah Gurbaz All Set To Make A Return For KKR

The Afghan cricketer used his social media and posted on 'X' that he will be returning to action for KKR. He also expressed gratitude and thanked the fans for the supportive messages and prayers for his mother's health. 

It is good news for Shreyas Iyer & company that the dynamic Afghanistan opener is returning to camp and will be joining KKR ahead of its next fixture. Ahead of his return, it's important to note that he has not featured in any matches for KKR this season.

"After a short break from IPL due to my mother’s illness, i will join my kkr family very soon, thanks for all the messages and prayers, alhumdulillah she is feeling better now thanks."


KKR Journey So Far In IPL 2024

Kolkata Knight Riders are having a commendable season in the IPL so far, they have registered the first position in the points table with 8 wins in 11 matches.

KKR has played their last fixture against Lucknow Super Giants and have displayed complete dominance with significant contributions from Sunil Narine (81 runs off 39 balls). 

Phil Salt and Sunil Narine have been playing exceptionally well, providing a crucial start at the top order and the bowling department has looked in good rhythm in recent matches. 

KKR will play its next match against Mumbai Indians on May 11, 2024.
