In a significant development, Rajasthan Royals have won the toss and elected to bowl first in their eleventh group-stage IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Royals have made two changes to their playing XI, replacing Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel with Shubham Dubey and Donovan Ferreira.
Why are Jurel and Hetmyer not playing today?
During the toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson revealed that Jurel and Hetmyer would miss out on tonight's clash against the Capitals due to minor injury concerns.
Regarding Jurel, the promising Indian batter hasn't had a great tournament this season, managing only 103 runs at a modest average of 20.60 and a strike rate of 130.38.
On the other hand, Hetmyer hasn't got many opportunities to showcase his finishing mettle, scoring 83 runs at an average of 27.67 in seven innings.
Meanwhile, Shubham Dubey is a talented middle-order batter, who has 493 runs to his name at a blistering strike rate of 145. Considering his potential, Dubey is expected to make an impact for RR in this match.
On the contrary, Donovan Ferreira, who also makes his debut for the inaugural champions, can chip in with a few overs of spin besides batting in the middle order.
