Why Has Rishabh Pant Removed Prithvi Shaw From DC's Playing XI Vs RR In IPL 2024?

In a shocking turn of events, Delhi Capitals decided to drop Prithvi Shaw from the playing XI in their all-important IPL 2024 fixture against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday, taking place at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

Shaw, India's Under-19 World Cup-winning captain, has not been at his very best since last season, and hence, Pant had no choice but to remove him from the lineup. In that scenario, Delhi will Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel as their openers, with  Shai Hope, Rishabh Pant, Tristan Stubbs, and Gulbadin Naib to follow.

Shaw made 66 against Mumbai Indians, 43 against Chennai Super Kings, and 32 against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024. In other outings, he did not even manage to cross 16.

"Pitches this season are more batting friendly. Some injuries, health issues are there in our team but we don't want focus on those things and we got to focus on the matches and do our best," Pant said at the toss time after Sanju Samson asked them to bat first.

With six defeats already, Delhi can not afford anymore losses in IPL 2024 if they want to keep their fate in their own hand for the playoff qualifications.
