KKR's Flight to Kolkata Unexpectedly Diverted Mid-Air; Here's The Shocking Reason

Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) journey from Lucknow to Kolkata on Monday took an unexpected turn as inclement weather forced their charter flight to be diverted to Guwahati.

The sudden change of plans was broadcast live on Instagram by the team late Monday evening, stirring up a frenzy among fans eagerly awaiting their next match.

KKR's charter flight rerouted to Guwahati amid severe weather conditions

As Kolkata Knight Riders' flight touched down in Guwahati at 8:50 PM IST, the team remained upbeat despite the hiccup.

"KKR's charter flight from Lucknow to Kolkata diverted to Guwahati due to bad weather. Flight currently standing at the Guwahati Airport tarmac," stated the franchise in an official announcement.

But fortune smiled on the team shortly afterward, as they received the all-clear to head back to Kolkata, with an expected arrival time of 11:00 PM IST.

The KKR flight diversion incident comes on the back of KKR's stellar performance in Lucknow on Sunday, where they decimated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a whopping 98 runs.

The victory propelled KKR to the top of the points table, amassing 16 points from 11 games and securing a nearly guaranteed spot in the playoffs.

The KKR is riding high this season, with eight wins under their belt and just three matches away from potentially finishing in the top two of the league stage—a feat not achieved since their 2014 championship run under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir.

As anticipation builds, all eyes are on their next clash against Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens on May 11 - their final home game of the season, where they will aim to solidify their dominance after triumphing in five of their seven home matches.

The only blemishes on their record at Eden Gardens this season were defeats to the Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings last month.

Post-Mumbai, the Knight Riders will pack their bags for Ahmedabad to face the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, followed by a league-stage finale against Rajasthan at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
