PBKS Beat CSK In High-Scoring Cracker
Punjab Kings overcame CSK in a high-scoring cracker in Chennai. CSK batted first and mounted 190 runs, largely owing to Sam Curran’s swift 47-ball 88. For Punjab Kings, fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen picked up two wickets each in the innings, while senior spinner Yuzvendra Chahal claimed figures of 4-32.
Chasing 191, opening batter Prabhsimran Singh cracked 54 off 36 balls at the top, while captain Shreyas Iyer carved 72 runs from just 41 balls as Punjab Kings won the match by four wickets in the final over.
Yuzvendra Chahal Picks Up Record Hat-Trick
Punjab Kings spinner Yuzvendra Chahal picked up figures of 4-32 from his three overs against CSK in match 49 at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium. The cricketer picked up three of those in succession to snare the second hat-trick of his IPL career, becoming only the third player in tournament’s history after Yuvraj Singh and Amit Mishra to pick up more than one hat-trick. Moreover, Yuzvendra Chahal also became only the third cricketer in IPL to collect four wickets in one over, and first to do it twice in the tournament.
India Women Penalized For Slow Over-Rate
The Indian Women’s team has been penalized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for maintaining a slow over-rate in the opening match of the ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka in Colombo. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur accepted responsibility for the offence as the sanction was imposed by match referee Vanessa de Silva.
Team India won the match by nine wickets in just 29.4 overs, with opener Pratika Rawal making an unbeaten half-century. Earlier, Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma and Shree Charani picked up seven wickets between them to fold up Sri Lanka for 147 in a 39-overs-a-side game.
Glenn Maxwell Ruled Out Of IPL 2025
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer confirmed the same prior to his team’s away fixture against CSK in Chennai. Shreyas revealed that Maxwell has a fractured finger, and the team management is yet to name his replacement yet. The 36-year-old has so far played seven matches for Punjab Kings this season, managing to score just 48 runs at a dismal average of eight and with a batting strike rate of less than 100.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz Floors ZIM As Bangladesh Level Series
Bangladesh blanked Zimbabwe by an innings and 106 runs inside three days in Chattogram to level the two-match Test series 1-1. Resuming the innings on Day 3 at 291-7, overnight batter Mehidy Hasan Miraz notched up his second Test ton to extend Bangladesh’s total to 444. Tanzim Hasan Sakib at number 10 also scored a valiant 41 from 80 balls to frustrate Zimbabwe as Bangladesh’s lead enhanced to 217 runs.
Up against a huge deficit, Zimbabwe folded up for just 111 in 46.2 overs to concede an innings defeat. Mehidy Hasan, hours after completing his century, picked up five wickets at an expense of just 32 runs in 21 overs. Taijul Islam also picked up three wickets to complete nine for the match, claiming figures of 9-102.
