After getting stung in the first Test, Bangladesh roared back in style and handed Zimbabwe a reality check in Chattogram, winning the second and final Test by an innings and 106 runs to level the series 1-1. All-rounder, Mehidy Hasan Miraz lit up the game with a century and a five-wicket haul.

Let’s take a look at BAN vs ZIM 2nd Test Report:

Taijul Spins A Web As Zimbabwe Crumble To 227 In 1st Innings

Zimbabwe walked out to bat first but their top order barely got going. Brian Bennett and Ben Curran got starts but couldn’t carry on. The only real resistance came from Sean Williams, who battled his way to 67 off 166 balls and Nick Welch, who chipped in with a patient 55.

But the real damage came from Taijul Islam, who bowled like a man possessed. The left-arm spinner ripped through the middle and lower order, grabbing 6/60 in a marathon 27-over spell.

Nayeem Hasan kept the pressure on from the other end and picked up two wickets, while Tanzim Hasan got the early breakthrough. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 227 and it was clear that they were in for a long Test.

Shadman, Mehidy Take Charge With The Bat

Bangladesh replied like a team on a mission. Shadman Islam was solid at the top, anchoring the innings with a fluent 120. He took the sting out of Zimbabwe’s attack and laid the perfect platform.

While Anamul, Mominul, and Shanto got starts, it was Mehidy Hasan Miraz who delivered the hammer blow by scoring a classy 104 that sucked the life out of the visitors. There were also handy contributions all around.

Mushfiqur Rahim scored a brisk 40 and Tanzim Hasan added 41 from the lower order. Bangladesh posted a mammoth 444, taking a massive first-innings lead of 217 runs. Vincent Masekesa picked up 5 wickets but by then, the damage was already done.

Mehidy Runs Riot With The Ball As Zimbabwe Collapse For 111

With their backs to the wall, Zimbabwe needed a miracle in the second innings. They didn’t get one. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, already riding high from his ton, turned the heat up with the ball and ran through the lineup with a stunning 5/32. Taijul Islam added three more wickets to his match tally, and Nayeem chipped in with another.

Only Ben Curran showed any sort of resistance with a fighting 46, but the rest folded like a pack of cards. From 69/4, they completely lost the plot and were bundled out for 111 in just 46.2 overs.

With 4 runs and 5 wickets in the same match, Mehidy Hasan Miraz deservedly walked away with the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards. Across the two Tests, he scored 116 runs and picked up 15 wickets and carried the team on his back.
